I maintain practices in both New Mexico and Hawai'i, and I am coaching people all over the world. It's pretty cool. I have taught online and on the ground for many years. I call for students to allow for the awakening their Inner Teacher. I want them to explore, discover and/or create their own truth, both professionally and personally. Students respond enthusiastically to my approach, as it is authentic, disruptive to outdated modes of pursuing self-knowledge, and it is entertaining. I have primarily taught in doctoral level Psychology programs, and in master's level Counseling programs. I have taught at Ohio State, the University of Texas, the University of California at Santa Barbara, Southwestern College, Walden, Capella, South University, Argosy University and others.

I never intended to be a “leader.” I am not an "Alpha Guy", nor have I ever aspired to be-that is not how I am made. But leadership was a natural destination--others saw qualities in me that would help move their organizations or lives ahead, and that was that. I never really was an "academic type" either, but I served in that world for a long time. I am extremely happy to be out of it, to be honest. I am not a traditional leader. I don't need to lead--I only agree to do so when it makes sense. When that is the case, I lead boldly, and am willing to set new courses with optimism, positive thinking, and lots of collaboration and consultation. (Beware those who HAVE to be Alpha or Leaders. Discover their motives. They are often unclean...)I am always more than happy to serve a leader who has a Vision that out-reaches mine...Leadership is not characterological, it is situational...I have a lot of energy, a fact which is noted favorably everywhere I have worked. I am no stranger to, nor am I afraid of, change. I aspire, always, toward the Visionary. In this era, not changing is not an option. It becomes a matter of going there kicking and screaming or leading the charge, and I choose the latter. It has worked out for me, time after time.

My job was to coordinate Practicum and Internship experiences of all students in the School of Psychology, all over the United States and Canada. I visited training sites and supervised the students' overall experiences, making sure they were worthy of the title "internship." I taught many different courses for Walden during my time, and also provided intensive training at many "face to face", on the ground residencies (I think people unfamiliar with Distance Learning do not know that Walden and Capella do this kind of thing, and do it often.) I sat on many dissertation committees, and prided myself on being the best online instructor I knew. I just enjoyed that kind of environment a lot, and would be open to opportunities to teach more online in the future.

Director of Health and Counseling Services. I supervised a medical staff of physicians and nurses, as well as the mental health services. I set and managed the budget, provided direct service and supervised much clinical work in the Counseling Services area. I served on many college committees, and was a leader in the Student Affairs Division. I served as instructor, mentor, and consultant to various college divisions and departments.

I taught Career Counseling for about 4 years for Argosy Chicago, and once for Argosy, Atlanta online. It was a great experience and I wish they had kept that course online, because I enjoyed teaching it. As some distance learning experiences go, I never met one person from Argosy face to face--the entire relationship and experience was from a distance.

When South University needed a Developmental Psychology course, they hired me as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) to work with a team of Instructional Design people in India, with whom I worked long distance to create the course. Later, I taught the course for a year or so. Great experience working with a team in India--my first direct experience with the Global Market Place....

Staff Psychologist, supervisor of Psychology Interns, Social Work Interns, Psychiatric Residents; taught courses in the schools of Psychology and Education. Offered individual and group psythotherapy and Positive Psychology-based workshops (though Positive Psychology, as a "field", did not exist at that time.)Administrative responsibilities as required in the Counseling and Mental Health Services agency.

Manufacturers Representative in the Steel Products industry, primarily fasteners. Worked with roughly 30 companies over those years, many domestic manufacturers and many importers from all over the world. Territory was largely in the Central to Southern Ohio area, West Virginia, and Central and Northern Kentucky.

Long before they knew about asbestos, I was a glove turner in an asbestos factory...We would leave at the end of a shift with asbestos fibers so thick it made my teenage mustache turn white...Back then, I would do ANYTHING for work. I just wanted the opportunity to work...

At this, and other jobs, I worked on truck docks, driving tow motor trucks, as well as old fashioned hand loading of trucks hour after hour, day after day. It was pivotal in my life--a classic case of "I know for sure what I do not want to do..." I headed back to college at the next opportunity...

When you dye large balls of yarn, they have to be dried in metal ovens that burn you, cut your hands, and provide all manner of other dangers all day, every day. It was only the fact that I was making a cool $2.50 an hour and got some OT that made this a worthwhile job which allowed me to buy The White Album, Cherry Cigars, and other necessities of a 16 year old.
