Leading the Technical input and output for the business and ensuring Technical excellence in all aspects of Kingfisher’s activities.Main Responsibilities:• Leadership of the Technical capabilities of the business and ensuring that we employ best practice at all times• Advising Internal Sales, PSEs and Customers on the use, application and integration of our products• Develop and implement tools to simplify the specification and use of Kingfisher products and contribute to the content of sales materials• Working with the Product Manager on the development of new product ranges to our specification and identity product gaps to create opportunities for new and improved ranges• Working closely with the Lighting Application Manager and the team to offer the best technical solution for our customers• Develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure that we have access to the most current technical information• Supporting sales team in securing projects by providing the highest quality Technical input. including face-to-face contact with customers• Staying abreast of current and future legislation that will have an effect on the business and relaying the relevant facts to key stakeholders within Kingfisher to allow them to take appropriate action• Monitoring and identifying new technologies at the earliest possible opportunity and assessing whether they should be considered for inclusion in our offering• Providing training for staff and customers (CPDs)• Active involvement in industry associations• Assisting quality related investigations both in-house and on site as required• Responsibility for issuing and maintaining Declarations of Eligibility for the Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme• Leading, assessing and compiling the Technical element of tender submissions• Evaluating suppliers’/potential suppliers’ photometric and Technical data• Benchmarking competitor product performance and identifying threats and opportunities

Key Responsibilities:- Identify & exploit new sales opportunities with existing and potential customers- Visit specifiers on a regular basis ensuring that they are updated on new products and are conversant with our product range and capabilities. Follow up projects through from placement to completion of order.- Monitor customer accounts within the allocated sales area to ensure that sales potential is fully exploited- provide an after sales service, keeping in contact with the specifier and customer support to ensure that if any problems arise they are dealt with speedily. Respond to customer requests promptly.- Submit a report on area activity, performance and market intelligence to the regional sales manager each month.- Ensure your area customer database is accurate and regularly reviewed- Liaise with your regional sales manager regarding pricing issues or conditions of sale- Maintain the opportunity register on the CRM system ensuring all projects are entered. Update all project information weely and review with your regional sales manager.

Review all specifications received for any given project and ensure the tender meets the criteriaProduce 3D renders where required to allow the customer an overview of the finished designManage all aspects of projects from design to installationAttend site meetings to carry out light measurements in accordance with CISBE, ILE and British Standards, make any minor aiming adjustments, and ensure handovers are expedited efficientlyAttend planning meetings to cover all technical queriesGive technical guidance and advice via telephone or email to contractors, architects, consultants and colleaguesTrain internal and external sales staff on lighting and design so that they can produce manual mark up designs to accurately estimate projects for customers ACHIEVEMENTS IN THIS ROLE:I have initiated and produced a technical handbook to aid sales representatives in their understanding of lighting design concepts, which is used throughout the business.I have designed and presented a lighting design training course which, is comprised of 3 grades teaches the basics of light and terms all the way through to how to produce a full lighting design. the training comprises of 2 online tests an a piece of course work to highlight gaps in knowledge and ensure that the skills learnt are applied correctly.I have moved the design process onto a paperless platform which enables the sales force to access lighting designs via the cloud and gives them instant access to them once completed.I have complied a BREEAM repost that calculates the compliance of a design and also give the energy usage along with the CO2 per year produced by the design, this can also be used to compare alternative designs and calculates pay back periods for things like LED vs Standard discharge.
