Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron Commander, responsible for maintaining personnel, training, and equipment readiness to support the Marine Air Ground Task Force Commander's attack and utility helicopter tasks and missions. Attain and Maintain individual and unit readiness requirements as outlined in the H-1 Training and Readiness Manuals, MAWTS-1 Course Catalog, and Weapons and Tactics Training Program. Provide a command climate that promotes mission accomplishment, esprit de corps, camaraderie, professionalism, and care for each Marine, the Squadron, and the Marine Corps. Actively engage with Marine and Sailor families and cultivate a Family Readiness Program through communication and direct action. Communicate and enforce organizational policy guidance and directives. Teach, lead, and mentor Marines of all ranks to achieve unit goals while promoting professional and personal development.

Conduct group / regimental-level mid and long-term operations planning and liaison with higher,adjacent, supported, and supporting units. Direct and coordinate movement of aircraft and personnel overseas in support of global force commitments. Coordinate Marine Aircraft Group participation in service, joint, and multi-national force exercises. Conduct liaison with air station leadership regarding Air Traffic Control, ordnance procedures, re-fueling operations, and integration of aviation operations. Manage MAG 39 Flight Hour Program (FHP) and Sortie Based Training Program (SBTP) and supervise planning, execution and reporting of MAG 39 FHP & SBTP in accordance with Marine Corps and Naval Aviation directives. Manage Marine Aircraft Group Non-Combat Expenditure Allowance (NCEA) and ordnance allocation. Maintain oversight of Flight Leadership Standardization program, Deployments For Training (DFTs), fire-fightingoperations, ground training, static displays, air shows, deployed force milestone reporting, DoD readiness reporting, and VIP movements.

Conduct quarterly Transition Task Force conferences and perform the duties of lead officer for three Cross Functional Teams to include; Operations and Training, Manpower, and Logistics. Direct the execution of the Deputy Commandant for Aviation's guidance for the H-1 Program across all Cross Functional Teams with adjacent HQMC Branches and from Marine Corps Force commands down to squadron-level. Act as the Deputy Commandant for Aviation's H-1 operations representative at various forums. Provide liaison for HQMC Aviation between Joint and other Department of Defense Agencies, regarding rotary wing and tilt rotor aircraft. Track and monitor status of H-1 mission, training, and testing support aircraft from fleet introduction through sundown. Provide periodic update to HQMC briefs, planning tools, Aircraft Program Data files, and the Aviation Plan.

Executive Officer. Assist the Commanding Officer with all squadron requirements internal and external to the command. Fulfill the duties of Commanding Officer in his absence. Coordinate all squadron staff functions, providing direction and guidance to all staff officers. Ensure communication and liaison is maintained with higher-level staffs. Track and monitor the progress of all squadron administrative requirements. Manage the squadron's safety and security programs. Provide guidance and mentorship to all squadron junior officers. Monitor all squadron accounts to include appropriated and non-appropriated funds. Act as member of the Command Family Readiness Team.Operations Officer. Prepare the annual squadron weapons and tactics training program (WTTP) in accordance with Navy and Marine Corps orders and directives. Provide training opportunities for squadron aircrew that balance individual and collective unit training requirements. Publish the daily flight and training schedule driven by the Air Tasking Order, HMLA mission essential task list (METL) and H-1 Training and Readiness (T&R) Manual. Project, request, and manage flight hour requirements, flight related budget requirements, and the Non-combat Expenditure Allowance for the fiscal year. Coordinate liaison with higher headquarters and adjacent units for operations reporting requirements, planning, and after action. Responsible for the daily completion of assigned squadron tasks. Provide guidance to the Commanding Officer on all operational matters. Develop plan to meet squadron fiscal year and calendar year training requirements following deployment.

Manage and supervise the activities and daily operations of the MAWTS-1 UH-1N Division. Conduct fleet support trips to certify Night Systems Instructors (NSI), Defensive Aerial Combat Maneuver Instructors (DACMI), and Forward Air Controller (Airborne) Instructors [FAC(A)I] in the UH-1N Helicopter. During the biannual Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course, instruct rotary wing common and UH-1N specific classes and coordinate UH-1N specific flight missions. During the biannual Desert Talon exercise, provide instruction to fleet UH-1N pilots on theater specific mission sets prior to deployment. MAWTS-1 SME for helicopterborne Command and Control, the Rapid Response Planning Process, and Air Mission Commander standardization. UH-1N Training and Readiness (T&R) Program Manual and UH-1N T&R representative. Manage the UH-1N Division budget and coordinate for UH-1N fleet support. Plan, coordinate and supervise the Desert Talon Integration Exercise (service-level aviation and aviation pre-deployment training).

Assist the Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the daily execution of his duties. Perform those tasks and requirements assigned in accordance with OPNAV instruction 4790. Assist in overseeing maintenance on 20 AH-1W and 10 UH-1N helicopters. Perform the duties of Program Manager for maintenance training, and support equipment licensing and training. Perform the tasks and duties of senior UH-1N Functional Check Pilot and the senior company grade Weapons and Tactics Instructor. Act as the primary advisor to the Commanding Officer regarding changes and improvements to tactics and weapon systems; UH-1N mission planner, flight leader, subject matter expert and higher / adjacent liaison.
