James Marriott is a graduate of Brigham Young University, with a degree in Actuarial Science. He has passed the SOA Exams P, FM, IFM, STAM, LTAM, SRM, and PA. He is passionate about Family, Learning and Excellence through Education, Hard Work, and Gospel Living. He currently works as a Healthcare Analytics Consultant at Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo), which manages several musculoskeletal clinics (and a hospital) in Arizona and around the country. James analyzes data from health insurance companies as the actuarial presence in risk-share agreement negotiations. He also performs other data-related functions from data ingestion to reporting for various programs. Most recently, he was working as an Actuarial Analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona in Phoenix. He worked with a team of analysts to forecast financial and enrollment data, including premiums, claims, and more. Before that, he worked at Premera Blue Cross near Seattle, WA. He worked with a team to analyze diagnosis data from healthcare claims to accurately document patients' conditions as requirements under the ACA. Prior to that, he was an intern at Allianz Life in Minneapolis, MN. There, he developed a new pricing system for Indexed Variable Annuities, as well as a new tool for the accurate creation of Fixed Indexed Annuity input files. Previously he initiated the Solutions Data Analyst position for the Business Career Center (BCC) at BYU. The BCC is at the forefront of relations with recruiters from businesses across the country, the only student-run University center of its kind. There he analyzed recruiter feedback and student activity and consulted leadership on how to leverage focus points to place students in the top jobs in the United States and around the world. James has always been hungry to gain the knowledge he needs to excel. Though very independent, he loves working with teams of competent, like-minded individuals to bring about worthwhile change. He believes that integrity, good judgment and leadership are at the heart of success.
