Senior Project Manager
I have over ten years experience in the engineering and mining industries as a project manager, project controller, quality manager and structural geologist, and have worked with both New Zealand and Australian companies on both sides of the Tasman. I joined Beca as a Project Controller for civil infrastructure projects in 2013. In this time I have built up a significant amount of experience managing and delivering projects on all scales. My project controls experience includes the SH1 Upper Harbour to Greville Road and the Northern Corridor Improvements projects for the NZTA, and the AMETI Mokoia Pa and Reeves Road Flyover projects for Auckland Transport. More recently, I led the design team on the award-winning Manukau Bus Train Interchange project for Auckland Transport. We delivered a world-class interchange that has been recognised in NZ and internationally for its architecture, innovative design, and integration with the future vision of Manukau City. I have also recently been the design manager on the early phases of the Civic Quarter development project for Civic Lane Ltd. This $200m redevelopment of the Aotea precinct surrounding the Civic Administration Building will revitalise a significant site in the civic heart of Auckland. Currently, I am working as the design delivery manager for the Wynyard Edge Alliance - the entity charged with delivering the waterfront infrastructure in downtown Auckland ahead of the 36th America's Cup in 2021.
Photographer
Project Geologist
A project geologist role during Integra Mining’s underground trial mining operation in a BIF-hosted deposit. I was extensively involved in setting up underground geology systems and procedures, including sampling and QAQC protocol, face and back mapping techniques, grade-control standards, database management, and reporting and reconciliation procedures. I mentored and trained a junior geologist into the mine production geology role, completed a set of Surpac wireframes and was closely involved in producing a grade-control block model. I carried out a detailed underground mapping campaign to identify and interpret key structural features that controlled localised high-grade mineralisation and presented this work to the geology team, and I also prepared a formal closeout report when the project was completed in November 2012.
Mine Exploration & Production Geologist
A two year role in resource and reserve diamond drill design and supervision, geological definition and wireframe modelling, data management and production reporting in a world-class orogenic orebody. I was extensively involved with the drill-out of the new 5 Moz Auron orebody and developed new exploration targets elsewhere within the deposit. A key focus of my role was to improve the efficiency of drill tracking systems and reporting processes, which lead to an improvement of our ore-body definition and ounces delivered into reserve category on each drill section.
Mine Exploration & Production Geologist
A one year role in near-mine and in-mine exploration within a world-class epithermal system; I spent three months supervising, logging and interpreting near-mine surface exploration RC drill programmes, and nine months underground in-mine production geology, grade-control drill-hole design, face- and back-mapping, logging, and basic geological modelling.
Research Student, Field & Lab Tutor
A two year structural geology MSc research programme, looking at the use of kinematic indicators and vein sequence data in forming a structural model of shallow epithermal gold deposits. This work included a five-month underground mapping and sampling campaign at Newmont’s Favona mine in Waihi, a low-sulfidation epithermal gold-silver deposit. I also worked as an undergraduate tutor and field assistant for field- and lab-based geology courses during this time, sat on the Faculty of Science Staff-Student Committee as a representative and was president of the Auckland University Geological Society.
Events Assistant
Full-time, short-term contract with the Events Department, setting-up, running ski and snowboard race events. Lead and supervised groups of volunteers during race events across the mountain.
Geologist
Field mapping, sampling, and in-mine exploration. I produced a technical report for the company, including a high-quality series of maps and cross-sections, and identified possible exploration targets. I published a paper for the 2005 New Zealand Minerals Conference based on this work.
