Jim is a former President & CEO of Mettler Toledo Florida having sold his business to Mettler Instrument in the early 2000's. After Jim's graduation from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business in Columbus, Jim was selected as the company's first Initial Career Experience (ICE) candidate. He was assigned to work in the electronics manufacturing assembly factory for Toledo Scale (owned by Reliance Electric at the time) in Worthington, OH learning "how stuff gets made." At night and on weekends, Jim attended sales & marketing training learning metrology & the application of the company's diverse product and industrial automation set. Jim started his career in Tampa, FL with Dickey Scales (later named Mettler Toledo Florida), an authorized Toledo Scale distributorship. Jim quickly rose through the ranks of sales>sales manager>GM>COO>CEO. During this time, Jim was instrumental in growing Mettler Toledo FL to the largest scale & analytical balance distributorship in the nation with seven offices throughout Florida and southern Georgia. Working both at night and on weekends, Jim received his MBA in Finance from The University of Tampa, Sykes School of Business. After the sale of Dickey Scales to Mettler Toledo Florida, Jim was a seed investor and senior level "rainmaker" for MercuryGate International, now the world's preeminent Transportation Management System (TMS) logistics solutions provider. Later on, Jim went to work for Mark Johnson & Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Rice Lake, WI as SVP of Sales & Marketing. Jim was instrumental in growing the company's organic sales from $40M to over $100M in five short years. For eleven (11) years, Jim was a VISTAGE Chair and Executive Coach paying it forward to over 50 Triangle based CEOs, Presidents & Business Owners in RDU and the Piedmont area of NC. At the same time, Jim scratched the entrepreneurial itch by launching The Convergent Group, a boutique sales & marketing strategy consultancy focused on SMB. In the final chapters of Jim’s professional career he is assisting Cliff Rogers and Boyd Taylor grow Creedmoor Holding Company & their commercial and residential real estate portfolio largely bounded in central and eastern NC.Jim's influencers include Verne Harnish, Gino Wickman, Chip Conley, Patrick Lencioni, Woody Hayes and his dearly departed parents, Earl & Darlene Sexton. Jim is a confirmed workaholic and enjoys spending leisure time around the house with his wife Lisa, son James and daughter Courtney, three grandchildren and miniature dachshund, Buck.
