I am a specialist entrepreneurial finance director providing both CFO/ FD, non-executive and strategic roles to a portfolio of ambitious mid-sized businesses and their owners.Former colleagues have described me as good sales person who is even better at finance - I think there is a compliment in there somewhere! Whilst I lead the finance teams in the businesses I work in, my primary role is always to help guide the strategic growth of the business and roll my sleeves up and promote the business myself at every opportunity.I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and have held roles at Financial Controller, Finance Director and Managing Director of £16m, £52m and £78m operating subsidiaries respectively of a £300m plc called Powerscreen International PLC where I spent 9 years. I then joined an €8m turnover Belgium based Aerospace Software and engineering company as Head of Finance to carry out a 2 year capital restructuring and refinancing. Then I stepped into unchartered waters with a start up interactive fitness equipment company where I raised £2m in equity, £250k debt funding, set up international distributors in 8 different countries and helped secure the first £2m of sales. I then co-founded The FD Centre. The FD Centre are the leading provider of experienced Finance Directors to Small and Medium Sized enterprises on a part time basis. The FD Centre Group had a combined turnover approaching £20m when I left in 2015. After leaving the FD Centre I invested in one of my client companies, Incopro Limited and exited that investment in 2018 when Highland Europe stepped in to fund the next stage of the companies growth.I continue to follow my passion of building businesses with exciting entrepreneurs in a variety of areas ranging from Out of Home Media to Speciality Chemicals Supply Chains, Property development/planning and high tech hardware and software. My latest areas of interest are 1)the application of artificial intelligence to the out of home media space2)the exploitation of the latest pyrolysis technological advances to create a proper circular economy in both plastics and end of life tyres. In addition to all of the above - I find time to also be Vice Chair of my local Parish Council.
