About Jameson Peckham

I am a former dining room busser and freelance craftsman/landscaper who is currently studying Mathematics and Economics at Brown University. Drawing on my experience as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and Math Teaching Fellow in the Mathematics Department at Brown, I am passionate about analytical and creative thinking, sharing knowledge with others, and learning something new every day. I have gained an appreciation for others' perspectives and for implementing thoughtful teaching practices such as Team-Based Inquiry Learning (TBIL). Moreover, I am excited to teach middle school students this summer as a member of Generation Teach - AmeriCorps. I will not only be able to support growth mindsets and collaboration to expand knowledge and improve problem-solving skills, but also foster significant relationships among students and faculty peers. These experiences will give me the opportunity to reflect on my teaching practices and improve as I move toward my future goal of becoming a high school math teacher. As a teacher, my objective is to help the next generations of math students develop their own math identities and reduce the inequality gaps that appear for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
