Melting large scrap loads into an electric arc furnace (EAF) to 3,000 degrees until molten steel, tapping steel into ladles sending it to casting for rolled finish steel, checking for quality of steel, maintaining a safe work environment in a fast pace area. Coordinate with liquid process helpers and crane operators in the operation and monitoring of the furnace. Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures for the EAF. Clean raw material charge and transport to charge area. As directed assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to furnace. Clean inside of crucibles, patch cracks and performs other repair tasks of crucible prior to next run. Set furnace controls to regulate flow of air, gas, oil and current to heat metal to specified temperature. Supervise functioning of the furnaces and observe the air, temperature, pressure, fluidity readings. Make adjustments, if required to ensure production as per specifications. Certified forklift operator and certified OSHA forklift operator.
