The South Florida Digital Alliance (SFDA), aka as Miami-Dade Broadband Coalition (MDBC), is an unprecedented collaboration among diverse South Florida leaders dedicated to deploying next generation broadband technology. Our purpose is to transform our community and close the digital divide, create jobs, increase economic opportunities and reduce operating costs. SFDA’s goal is to construct a robust broadband network that will connect community anchor institutions throughout South Florida and extend broadband services to our underserved communities. This initiative will create efficiencies in the delivery of healthcare, education and government, impact our economy, improve public safety, and create jobs.

Current efforts include the development of new Land Management application, development of new citizen centric web services, and migration of City of Miami’s mainframe environment to a .NET, SQL, Windows based environment. Recently transitioned into this role for the role as Asistant Director, Techical Services Divsion (Infrastructure) 12/2000 – 09/2009.As Assistant Director of Technical Services Division: directed, managed and prioritized the activities and personnel of the Technical Services Division of the Information Technology Department. The Technical Services Division provides: planning, design, operation and administration services of the City’s: data communications network (LAN/WAN); hardware and software deployment and support; Internet/Intranet development and administration; 24x7x365 mainframe operations support and production scheduling; systems software testing, planning and deployment; help desk support; training support; policies and standards development; email support; implementation management; software and services acquisitions; and, hardware and software evaluations.• Developed concept and implemented agreement to provide exchange of data center space with the City of Coral Springs which will allow development and staging servers to be hosted remotely and act as Disaster Recovery Platform for City of Miami (greatly reduced time to recover using virtualization and produced annual budgetary savings of approximately $100,000).
