In my role I manage a team of System Engineers to deliver the Facilities Monitoring and Control (FMC) Subsystem in support of JP9101 Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS). Key responsibilities include:• Maturing the design of subsystem configurable items such as Power Distribution, HVAC, Weather Monitoring, Facilities Monitoring, Security & Surveillance, and Fire Suppression.• Producing technical documentation including: subsystem specifications, interface control documents (ICD), architecture designs, trade studies, verification cross reference matrices (VCRM), requirement traceability matrices (RTM) and design documents. • Advancing the FMC subsystem through ASDEFCON Mandated System Reviews (MSR) including SRR, SDR and PDR.• Managing and reviewing engineering deliverables from key project subcontractors to ensure acceptable design outcomes are delivered in accordance with project plans and timelines.• Maintaining a collaborative relationship with SEG and CASG in a client-facing role to facilitate mutual agreement on defined interfaces and scope boundaries.• Exposure to the management of Trade Control and ITAR requirements for export controlled capability and documentation.• Mentoring and up-skilling engineering interns and graduates through Babcock’s Early Careers program.

Working out of the Melbourne-based office, I reported directly to the General Manager. My role provided systems engineering and project management consultancy to our clients and senior technical authority within our internal Defence-funded innovation projects. Notable contracts and projects include:

• Providing systems engineering consultation within SAAB to establish software-based requirement traceability for JP2060 Phase 3 Deployable Health Capability using IBM Rational DOORS.• Developing detailed design artefacts for various sub-systems including Clinical and General Laundry, Oxygen Generation System, Patient and Staff Hygiene, and Central Sterile Supply.

• Developing functional performance specifications for Defence’s future Deployable Infrastructure (Water capability).• Coordinating working groups of 30+ Defence personnel to gain endorsement from Army and Air Force services on Deployable Water capability scope, user needs and specifications.• Facilitating contract negotiations to enable CASG to enter contracts with two suppliers valued at $88 million AUD.

• Fulfilling project engineer, systems engineer and product design responsibilities to develop an innovative military bridging HUMS prototype on time, within budget and exceeding expected maturity (TRL6 instead of TRL3).• Excelling in a client-facing technical lead role which required frequent domestic travel to liaise and collaborate with Defence stakeholders and project suppliers
→ Working in a cross-functional team alongside computer scientists and engineers to develop an optical AI device capable of identifying military vehicles as they cross bridges in real-time.• Engineering and performing in-field testing to iteratively develop the UHF RFID component identification sub-system.• Managing integration and interfaces across all sub-systems.• Exercising Agile project delivery practices (Scrum, Kanban).

• Leading product development from early R&D and prototyping through to a Phase 2 Defence innovation hub proposal for an innovative automated software design tool for deployable infrastructure.• UX/UI development using Figma for websites and applications.

• Increasing the percentage of revenue from new products from 5% to 35% as of March 2020.• Successfully launching over 130 products to international and national markets. • Achieving 10 internationally recognised design awards and honours within a 3-year period.• Consulting with clients to create bespoke products for over 600 projects worldwide. • Directing the research and development of industry leading architectural hardware products. • Project management of design and engineering tasks relating to NPD.• Assessing product performance and leading product portfolio management. • Travelling to China, Hong Kong & USA to liaise with stakeholders and exhibit product launches.• Supervising, mentoring and leading multiple undergraduate product designers.• Extensive graphic design duties for digital marketing and print. • Daily use of Solidworks, ANSYS, Keyshot, Excel, Word, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.• Gaining extensive practical experience with the following manufacturing/finishing processes: Milling and turning (NC/CNC), forging, extruding, powder coating, electroplating, oxidising, sandblasting, polishing, 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, die casting, laser and waterjet cutting.

• Pitching an innovative product to Anatomics executives to secure a collaborative partnership.• Contributing to IP, resulting in a worldwide patent application: WO/2018/032060.• Commercialising a world first 3DP patient-specific cranial protective device - SkullPro™.• Exposure to ISO 13485 regulatory constraints. • Hands-on experience researching, prototyping and fabricating plastic and composite components.

• Collaborating and meeting on a weekly basis with industry-leading engineers. • Developing chassis and rear axle designs for an EV/Solar sports car.
