I'm passionate about sustainable urban development and the economic revitalization of rural timber communities. I am a firm believer that mass timber is the future of low-carbon construction. I grew up in Southern Oregon timber country, where I witnessed the economic challenges faced by local timber communities. In 2012, I moved to Portland to pursue a degree in economics and sustainability at Portland State University. While at Portland State, I had the privilege of working with First Stop Portland, an organization dedicated to sharing our city's sustainability policies and best practices through robust knowledge exchange and site tour programming. I collaborated with innovators and decision-makers from around the world, sharing the remarkable successes of our region in transportation, civic engagement, and green building design. However, it was the recent advents in timber production technology that captured my attention. Since 2015, I've dedicated my professional career to understanding the mass timber sector and finding ways to share the stories of these beautiful structures by highlighting their social, economic, and environmental value to a national audience. The resurgence of mass timber as a beautiful, viable, and low-carbon building material inspires me. We need to recognize the unique opportunity this building material has in bridging the divide between rural timber communities and urban cities. I joined the dynamic team at Timberlab in 2022 with a mission to accelerate the mainstream adoption of mass timber. At Timberlab, we combine digital construction, timber engineering, strategic procurement, custom fabrication, installation, and relentless innovation to revolutionize the construction industry. Our approach not only enables the creation of stunning, low-carbon buildings but also drives regional economic development by creating sustainable jobs and supporting local timber suppliers. As a regional champion of mass timber, we are paving the way for a greener and more prosperous built environment. If you're looking to make your next project mass timber, feel free to reach out!timberlab.com/contact
