About James "Jp" Mathis, Phd
I'm a thin-film semiconductor scientist who thrives on cross-functional, multi-team research and development projects. I've spent most of my academic career fabricating zinc tin nitride thin-film using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PAMBE) in collaboration with another team, measuring those films' properties using a wide variety of optical and electrical pump-probe experiments and analyzing/visualizing those various sets of data. Some of the more notable techniques I used included: diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS), reflection high-energy electron diffraction(RHEED), photoluminescence, cathodoluminescence, and Hall effect measurements.I am guided by a natural inclination to ideate innovative approaches to existing protocols, exemplified by the capstone of my thesis work, in which I demonstrated significant enhancement of signal-to-noise ratios in DRS measurements by ~60% using a novel interation on the existing experimental setup.
Listed skills include Physics, Research, Science, Public Speaking, and 18 others.
