Implemented the Peano Hilbert Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition(PHEEMD) algorithm in C, used to translate images to a one dimensional signal and obtain the instantaneous frequency.Development on the Intel Edison platform, interfacing a pressure-sensitive, flexible touch screen with Bluetooth audio to create an engaging user demo.

The team measured characteristics of piezoelectric, linear resonant and eccentric rotating mass actuators in different configurations, amplitudes and frequencies. I replicated our physical test setup in FEA software(ABAQUS, LS-DYNA) to examine the best configuration that maximizes surface energy density. I also created a python script to run simulations of actuators at various frequencies overnight, saving approximately 50+ hours of work.Our team then applied this research in order to create more advanced haptic effects such as a realistic button press.
