As a Solution Architect at Sky I have systems architecture responsibility for a number of development projects, producing solution designs to a high standard that align with the Sky Technology strategy. To achieve this I work closely with Platform owners, business stakeholders, business analysts and software developers to align Delivery projects and strategic direction of the platform.

Responsible for the development of an online military operational logistics website. This website is being developed using ASP.NET 3.5, C# and SQL.

I had sole responsibility for the design, development, testing and integration of a generic offline, point-and-click application that maps tactical data messages from one format to another. The product of this application was an XML file which would be used within a C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) system at runtime to enable the connectivity of differing communication systems. This point-and-click application would allow the user to easily create new mappings without any coding knowledge.

I had sole responsibility for the research and development of a feasibility study of a web-based tote system using a content management system for a military customer.

I was responsible for the design, development, testing and integration of a simulated Aviation Software solution for an existing multi-national real-time system.

My responsibilities were to lead a small software team in the design, development, testing and integration of a man-portable radar system simulator for the MOD. This stand alone simulator would integrate with an existing synthetic environment. I was responsible for 3 software engineers. Part of this responsibility included managing their time, ensuring they all had work and integrating their work together. I was also directly responsible for the communication between the software team and the engineering manager and system design authority as well as representing the Project (and BAE Systems) with the customer.

I was responsible for the recruitment of graduate engineers from Heriot Watt University. It was my sole responsibility to produce and execute a business plan to attract potential future employees. Part of this plan was the creation of a risk assessment as well as budget managment.

I was responsible for the design, implemantation, testing and integration of an upgrade to an existing system. I was sole responsible for the addition of minefield markers to the CATT Battleground Synthetic Environement system.

To undertake an Image Generator development study. My responsibilities were to investigate an aging third party Image Generator with no available documentation, that was being used by several different BAE projects. By evaluating the packets being sent to and from the Image Generator I was tasked with evaluating whether it was possible to replace the Image Generator with modern, less expensive Graphic Cards and estimate how much work would be involved. My findings were reported to senior engineers in the form of a proposal.

Integrating the navigation elements of two existing seperate systems. Create an interface between the two systems to successfully transmit and receive navigation data to and from each other.

I was responsible for the design, implemantation, testing and integration of a Navigation system. This Navigation system was a small part of a much larger real-time multi-platform, multi-national military simulation system.
