Responsible for the development and growth of a team of hydrologists, hydraulic modellers and engineers in the London office. During this time the team grew from 6 to 11 with the core of the team remaining consistent throughout this period. Delivering a range of flood risk studies for private developers, the Environment Agency and Local Authorities. Responsible for all aspects of team management as well as the overall technical quality of deliverables and business development for the Development and Flood Risk business line lead.

Nine month contract working as a member of the Development Control team of the Environment Agency – the regulatory body responsible for the environment in England and Wales. Responsible for reviewing flood risk assessments and drainage consents that supported developing planning. My role required an excellent understanding of UK flood risk related regulations including Planning Policy Guidance (PPG 25), the Water Resources Act, Land Drainage Act and Land Drainage Byelaws, as well as the UK Planning System.

Developed a strong grounding in the water environment sector from application of first principles in river and pipe hydraulics and water treatment, through to legislative/design standards and the practical implementation of solutions designed during contract supervision.• Water Treatment and Supply - Developed solutions to existing water supply quality issues, such as testing existing chlorine in the water supply and developing a dosing programme to enable the supply to comply with National Standards. Design of a fluoride bunding system at Hickey’s Spring in Pukekohe, pH adjustment at Clark’s Beach, and water pressure improvements near the Totara Reservoir in Pukekohe.• Surface Water Attenuation and Treatment - Design of sustainable urban drainage systems, such as one of the first rain gardens constructed in Auckland, attenuation ponds for new highways and testing and design for deep bore soakaways into the volcanic bedrock of Auckland.• Detailed Design and Contract Supervision - Supervision of ten construction contracts for stormwater drainage improvements in Manukau, valued between NZ$100,000 - $500,000. Responsible for: Preparing tender documents and liaising with tendering contractors Assessing tender responses and preparing contract documents On site supervision, in accordance with the design and contract documents Approving contractor payment and defects period requirements.I was also led on detailed design and co-ordination of design drawings for six of the ten schemes.
