At the beginning of 2012, I incorporated a new company, Bitlink, which I use to provide support, consultancy and training services to clients around Tasmania. Prior to the incorporation of Bitlink in 2012, I ran the business as a sole-trader for a number of years (beginning 2009).While I still provide support services to small clients, in recent years, my focus has switched to working as a consultant for the University of Tasmania and the Department of Economic Development.Over the past twelve months, my main focus has been working as a business coach in the Digital Ready Program (funded through the Department of Economic Development). This program involves working closely with business owners to identify ways in which they can use technology to enhance their productivity, efficiency or profitability. I am currently working as a project manager for the Launceston Clinical School (part of the UTAS School of Medicine). During the five years from 2008 to 2012, I worked at HITLab Australia. My primary role was as an academic tutor; helping to run and further develop a number of HITLab undergraduate courses including courses relating to virtual reality, augmented reality, interface design and video game design theory.HITLab Australia has traditionally maintained a link with sister institutions in Seattle, USA and Christchurch, NZ. As such, a significant component of my work involved collaborating with international lecturers to develop and deliver world-class courses under the UTAS banner.In addition to teaching, I also worked as a manager on a number of research and development projects within the HITLab.
