As a former CIO for FDA and later for Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), I love opportunities to create an array of solutions that give customers choices to address their problems. My passion is applied IT with an eye on emerging technology. I’m proud to be the Executive Director of Innovate@UCLA, a Fellow at Avasant and ILO, and a board member for three IT service companies. From Florida to Maryland (Washington DC area) to California, I’ve worked in banking, network manufacturing, the chemical industry, lodging, government (IRS, FDA) and for a NASA FFRDC (Caltech/JPL).I believe in running IT as a business from financials, product, workforce and true business alignment. I’m a CEO in a CIO body! I appreciate quality communication and am customer focused with IT as a means to the business goal. I’ve enjoyed every opportunity from the above companies and am most pleased that my JPL team won eight CIO 100 Awards in a row and seven times in a row, won my favorite award, CIO Best Places to Work in IT.
