Jim Jarvis has over 35 years experience in road safety practice, research, administration and teaching. He worked in one of the world’s first road accident research units and in road crash investigation in the UK. He moved to Australia in 1976 to join ARRB, the country’s premier road research organisation. Jim was awarded a PhD for his work in heavy vehicle safety. In 1997 Jim joined Monash, Australia’s largest University, as Professor of Transport Engineering and head of one of the engineering schools. He has always maintained an involvement with road safety, developing an interest in road safety in motorising countries.After leaving the University he has worked on road safety projects in China, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and several States in India, where he has been involved for over 10 years. When not involved in road safety projects, he is responsible for transport developments for an IT product development company, which includes mobility opportunities in transport and the development of incident management data-base solutions.
