Designed and implemented two microservice APIs that were part of the Aladdin Trading platform, a distributed microservices architecture implemented in java spring boot that executes trades against configured accounts. Used Google Protobuf to generate microservice interfaces for gRPC service implementations. Implemented a microservice that was responsible for communicating cash balances to the execution engine so that trades would only be executed against an up to date, accurate balance. Implemented the scheduling service that determined when trades could be executed considering weekends, holidays, and worldwide time-zones.

Served a lead role in architecting, designing, and implementing Aladdin Universal Connectors, a distributed services architecture implemented with java spring boot microservices that allowed outside clients to view and update their fund profiles via a series of REST APIs. The java layer also was used to integrate an internal legacy .NET system with other components in the BlackRock Aladdin system. Implemented the trading module that allowed trades to be securely executed across an X509 transport layer from one off-premise client to another off-premise transfer agent. Used Java JPA/Hibernate to retrieve and store data against a SQL Server backend.

Served as an integral member of the Cachematrix development team responsible for design and implementation of back-end distributed financial trading service written in .NET 4.6 and SQL Server 2014. The components were deployed as WCF Services, which acted as proxies to third-party trading systems. Refactored the Cachematrix FundDirect integration service into a set of independent, distributed WCF microservices deployed within Docker containers. Participated in proof of concept activities.

Responsible for the design and implementation of key new features in the Emcare RapAndGo product, a patient management application written using .NET 4.5 ASP.NET, Javascript and jQuery with a MySQL backend. Used ASP.NET SignalR technology to design and implement an in-product, secure messaging system that allowed physicians within a hospital to communicate with one another. Re-designed the perl based HL7 parsing model to a design that utilized distributed WCF services and a multi-threaded Windows Service.

Played a key role in the effort to re-design AspenPointe’s medical provider system. Designed and implemented the data model; re-wrote all affected Transact-SQL stored procedures; Implemented SSIS scripts to migrate data into the new model. Designed and implemented ASP.NET/jQuery user interface code using AJAX as well as standard postback response patterns. Re-worked the security model using standard ASP.NET interfaces in order to better control access to back-end resources.

Determined security architecture for a small securities software firm that provided applications to external clients. Used WCF and WSE 3.0 to secure distributed web service methods using x509 certificates. The application is provided as a service to several financial security firms worldwide through a SaaS model. Designed a Java Servlet to provide statements to the main .NET based application.

Re-engineered Clayton’s primary intranet application. Migrated it from Classic ASP to a .NET 3.0/Windows Communication Foundation based framework comprised of twelve distributed services. Re-engineered the client interface into a set of desktop based smart clients and web based AJAX applications. Oversaw and led all aspects of development from requirements gathering through deployment. Led and trained a group of six developers. Led the developers in all architectural and design decisions.

Re-engineered ASP/VBScript based projects to take advantage of .NET technologies on Clayton’s intranet application. Gathered user requirements, wrote functional specifications, and made use of UML to communicate and document designs. Separated solutions into presentation, business and data layers and made use of distributed web services and WSE 2.0 to build distributed service-oriented architectures. Solutions were built using ASP.NET, C# and ADO.NET typed datasets. Wrote user documentation and led user training on new solutions. Organized and trained IT staff in basic object-oriented principles.

Integral team member involved in the migration of the company’s main eCommerce site from a Java/Oracle to a .NET/SQL Server 2000 implementation. Designed and implemented the Data Access Layer using ADO.NET datasets. Worked on ASP.NET user interface layer, utilizing both server side (C#) and client side (JavaScript) logic. Designed ASP.NET distributed web services interface and integrated with both .NET and Java clients. The site ran in a web farm across multiple servers and utilizes out of process session state.

Led the design and development of an Application Service Provider model web application that enables oil and gas companies to exchange financial documents of varying formats via the internet using Java, EJB, XML, Weblogic 6.1, Perl, Oracle and J2EE in a Solaris development environment. Designed the initial object framework that all developers now use for development and developed data model. Helped to implement much of the middle tier and user interface using Java, HTML and JavaScript. Chose tools and managed source control. Responsible for investigating new and emerging standards.

Designed and developed a web application server that delivers oil and gas data on demand via the internet using Java, CORBA, ActiveX, ASP, MS SQLServer and Oracle. Designed, developed and tested the middle tier application server that facilitates all communications between client side applets and back end legacy systems residing on IBM mainframes and MVS systems. The load-balanced server was written using CORBA (Visigenics ORB). The user interface was written using JDK Swing classes. The system generated $100,000/month by the end of its first year in production.

Developed user interface components for a two-tier database management system using Oracle Pro/C, C++ and Microsoft MFC. Developed ActiveX component that presented a common database interface to a suite of client applications. The components were used in various PowerBuilder and VB applications to allow a consistent interface to various database objects on the back end server.

Led a team of developers responsible for delivering a suite of geologic data management and mapping tools. Oversaw high-level architecture and wrote functional specifications. Implemented solutions using C, C++ and Microsoft MFC.

Led and participated in project teams responsible for assuring the quality of Q+E Database Library, Database Editor and ODBC drivers. Designed and implemented automated test suites in C and Visual Basic. Investigated and reported software problems.
