I'm in charge of special programming and bookings, putting together promotions and staying in touch with the community. My work encompasses overseeing social media, local outreach partnerships and coordinating events at our venue. I believe some of the most valuable connections are made on a one-to-one basis, so I often host shows and introduce repertory films at Alamo. The Charlottesville location opened in July 2017 and was initially a distant third in terms of market share; we are now #1 in the market, beating a Regal Theater that has twice as many screens as we do, plus an IMAX.

Battle Creek, Michigan

I write for the WOW and Life & Arts sections, covering everything from happenings in the local arts scene to historical businesses to personality profiles. I write about theater, visual arts, film, books, school lunches, 150-year-old grocery stores -- you name it.

I'm in charge of the arts section at this weekly alternative paper, located in Michigan's state capital.

Chicago

I was in charge of coordinating with the festival staff, volunteers and theater personnel to make sure festival presentations ran smoothly. My other duties included assisting festival judges and VIPs with screening arrangements and reserved seating, and overseeing the filmmakers' introductions and post-screening Q&A sessions.

I have been helping out on the Playhouse's summer theater program, first as an usher and a backstage worker and then as assistant stage manager for the production of "Memory House," starring Kathy Baker and Natalia Payne.

I write features, business profiles and restaurant reviews for this weekly entertainment guide distributed throughout the summer around Martha's Vineyard.

In addition to reviewing films for print and broadcast (weekly TV and radio appearances, as well as a podcast on the Michigan Live website), I maintained two film-related blogs and was in charge of assigning stories to staff and freelance writers, planning entertainment budgets and online content, editing incoming copy and working alongside our design team. My work earned three awards from the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, two for my reviews and one for my feature writing.

Kalamazoo

I did a weekly segment titled "3-Day Weekend," in which I reviewed the latest films and discussed entertainment news.

I taught feature writing and specialized reporting for seven years, winning the David C. Czuk Part-Time Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence from the head of Western Michigan University's English department in 2003.

My duties included hiring, overseeing and training the staffs of two theaters. My promotional work was honored in national contests.

In addition to coordinating the day-to-day operations of several Detroit-area theaters, I attended trade screenings and trade shows, filed reports on upcoming films and organized award-winning promotional campaigns.
