In addition to serving as Chief of Staff to the congressional office, in 2012 I also served as the Senior Advisor and spokesman for Congressman Renacci’s successful re-election campaign. As one of only two races nationwide featuring an incumbent candidate from each party, the 2012 race in Ohio’s 16th district was one the most expensive, competitive and high-profile contests in the country.

Served on the communications team and as Director of Research for Gordon H. Smith's 2008 U.S. Senate re-election campaign. Assumed a tactical role on the communications team for the post-primary/general election campaign. Developed critical communications and new media strategies, media talking points, press releases and advertising scripts. Formulated key debate messages as a member of Senator Smith's debate preparation team. Crafted talking points for campaign surrogates and aided the state party communications team with candidate messaging. Managed and directed the internal and opposition research operation.

Served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Gordon Smith, managing judicial, immigration, education and banking issues. Crafted speeches, talking points and memos for Senator Smith to aid in communicating his position on a broad range of issues and legislation.Advised Senator Smith on major pieces of legislation, including the ethics reform bill, judiciary appointments and education and law enforcement funding initiatives.

Practiced law as an associate trial attorney with a Portland area litigation firm. Handled both civil and criminal litigation, including work as lead counsel on multiple jury trials, arbitration and settlement negotiations. Recognized by the Oregon State Bar Association for teaching a Continuing Legal Education course to other attorneys on issues of civil liability under state and federal law.
