After a successful 23 years in the practice of General Surgery, Jim Hanlon entered the financial services industry in 2002.Jimʼs avocation during the years he practiced Surgery was investing and following the financial markets. In 2002, Jim found himself ready for new challenges. He had the opportunity to turn his avocation into a new career, and decided after much deliberation to pursue it. Although Jim thoroughly enjoyed the practice of Surgery, he saw an opportunity to serve clientsʼ financial health and decided to follow his new profession. Jim completed a year-long course of study in financial planning at Duquesne University. He is a graduate of the Advanced Training Course of the Learning Institute for Financial Executives in Dayton, Ohio. Jim is an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR), and is Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registered, as well as insurance licensed in Pennsylvania, and several other states. He focuses on helping clients prepare for retirement and college funding, with particular emphasis on tax efficient approaches. Jim has given multiple workshops for the public on these topics. Jim uses a wide variety of investment choices to help his clients pursue their goals and values, including mutual funds, individual stocks and bonds, unit investment trusts, managed accounts, variable and fixed annuities, and insurance products. He has earned the Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant (ChFEBC) designation.In 2020, Jim co-founded Oakbridge Advisor Group with Christine Brookins. Their goal is to educate, protect and advise multiple generations to get them to the future they desire.
