I continued as Chair for the first year before handing over to Philip Kolvin, when I became President.I chair the Taxi Consultative Panel for the IoL which responds to taxi related consultations etc. I was also a member of the Working Party that created the "Guidance on determining the suitability of applicants and licensees in the hackney and private hire trades" which the IoL published in 2018.In 2012 I was made a Companion of the Institute, which is a great honour.

As Chairman I worked with a small group creating the body, setting up regional groups, putting together its Annual Conferences, helped to create the Model national Conditions for Public Entertainment Licences, and helped to create the Certificate of Licensing Law at Birmingham Univesity, then later at Warwick University.
