I am an investment leader and advisor with almost 30 years of experience managing a range of investments across asset classes. Well-networked with the senior leadership of UK large-cap corporates, I possess deep knowledge of global blue chips across multiple sectors, informed by extensive market experience across major crises, bull and bear markets.In my current role at Lazard, as a Managing Director in the Makinson Cowell practice, I help the leadership teams of leading listed companies better understand the needs and priorities of their shareholders and guide them in using this information to shape strategy and improve performance. Previously, as a fund manager at Fidelity Investments, I managed their second largest UK retail fund and also set up and managed a global fund with the same concentrated, long-term value / growth strategy that proved very successful for both. This means I have an excellent grasp of the views of the institutional investor base and an excellent eye for quality in large-cap listed companies.Having spent many years engaging day in, day out with the management teams of the world’s larger companies, I have a strong sense of what drives success for these complex businesses and what is required to deliver the flexible and sustainable strategies that maximise performance. I have recruited and developed teams of talented managers and analysts, and pride myself on my ability to build a collaborative and open environment that generates coherence while encouraging individual expression and the challenge of received ideas.Born and educated in Ireland, I retain a strong attachment to the country and also have a keen interest in rugby.
