About James Thomas, M.S.Ed.

Looking back over my professional career thus far, diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a string interlaced throughout, resulting in the DEI forward lens and approach I maintain in all the work I do. Originally coming from a career in pediatric infectious disease research, I've always held a desire to find ways to help people. This drive carried me to higher education, where I found a fulfillment in pouring into the development of lives that would go out and have a greater impact. Throughout the years, I found myself turning more of my energy into providing additional support towards students that held marginalized identities. My work currently focuses on the sense of belonging, well being, success, and retention of underserved and underrepresented students, which is done through mentorship, multicultural education, academic support, and celebration.
