About James Looney

Building on an expansive career in electronic engineering and technical repair of avionics and surveillance systems, I currently serve as a Field Engineering Associate Manager for Lockheed Martin. As a leading worldwide provider of advanced technologies in global defense, Lockheed Martin provides services across five business segments, including Aeronautics, Information Systems and Global Solutions, Missile and Fire Control, Mission Systems and Training, and Space Systems. Working within their Aeronautics segment, I direct operations for 6 PTDS (Persistent Threat Detection System) sites, partnering with clients to provide mission-critical support via radar and electro-optical/infrared sensor systems. Managing a dedicated team of professionals, I oversee all maintenance, repair, deployment, and recovery of our equipment, including the analysis of real-time data to provide current and accurate intelligence and threat detection. I began my technical and electronic engineering career with the USAF as an Avionics Navigation Systems Technician, managing personnel and directing the testing, assembly, installation, and repair of navigation equipment. Joined the Civil Service as an Electronic Integrated Systems Technician in 1996, I provided maintenance and repair of data link and satellite communication, navigation, radar, and autopilot systems, training all technical staff and working directly with clients to support their missions. In 2008, I began with Mantech as Field Service Technician, assessing malfunctions and directing repair, replacement, and maintenance of camera radars and fixed elevated sensor systems. I also managed flight and recovery support and maintenance for EO/IR sensor payloads, military and telemetry radios and radar systems. With our contract coming to an end, I am seeking client-facing field service positions in technical repair and maintenance of avionic and electrical systems. Please feel free to contact me by email at jetpowrd@yahoo.com.
