I had two roles during my employment:1) Delivered and collected of oesophageal swabs and capillary blood tests to households across the North West and North Wales on behalf of the Office of National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey.2) Telephone and admin support for field-based health care workers across the UK.

Managed and ran one of the geological LA-ICPMS laboratories at the Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences (CODES) Analytical Laboratories, University of Tasmania; conducting world-leading analyses of geological materials for both scientific research and global mining companies, that included Rio Tinto, BHP, Anglo American, Glencore, Barrick Gold, Fortescue Metals Group, Teck Resources and Newmont.KEY SKILLS✦ Prepared and wrote ~50 confidential and technical reports for large mining companies within strict timeframes. Co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.✦ Worked with large data sets to produce and assess statistics of analytical data using Microsoft Excel and other in-house software. ✦ Implemented and systemised a workflow for a small team (<10) processing, analysing and delivering specialised reports. ✦ Trained students, staff and industry users in the principles and practice of LA-ICPMS techniques including data reduction protocols.RESPONSIBILITIES✦ Conducted fully quantitative, major and trace element analyses of a wide range of geological materials including semi- and fully quantitative imaging.✦ Method development - analysed new materials, optimised uncertainties, interrogated instrument tuning and gas mixtures, improved analytical and operational protocols.✦ Used and maintained COMpex Pro 110 and ATLEX-500-I ArF 193 nm Excimer lasers coupled to Agilent 7700 and 7900 mass spectrometers.✦ Compared and corroborated LA-ICPMS data with other analytical techniques including electron probe micro analyses, scanning electron microscope, solution ICPMS and X-ray fluorescence.

Responsible for the daily operation of the Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (LA-ICPMS) laboratory at the Research School of Earth Sciences, ANU.In addition to those skills listed above I also developed expertise in:⟡ Time management - operating a full time research lab at the same time as completing my doctorate.⟡ Managed billing and booking systems⟡ Documented and maintained Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and procedures⟡ Renewed and negotiated maintenance contracts.⟡ Liaised with external users and organised national and international visitations.

Thesis Title: Diffusion and partitioning behaviour of REE in accessory minerals of carbonatitesUndertook laboratory based experiments where I synthesised minerals and looked at how the concentrations of trace elements, in particular Rare Earth Minerals, varied as a function of temperature, pressure, melt composition and oxygen fugacity. KEY SKILLS⟡ Devised and conducted high quality scientific research.⟡ Published a PhD thesis⟡ Presented research findings at Goldschmidt international conference 2015 & 2016⟡ Taught both classroom and fieldwork based undergraduate courses
