I am an experienced healthcare professional with a background in communications, public affairs and government relations. I currently manage Health Insurance Services for Rodgers Health, a federally-qualified community health center. Health Insurance Services encompasses both Medicaid/CHIP (MOHealthNet/KanCare) programs, Medicare and the Health Insurance Marketplace. I manage a team of counselors that provide free in-person application assistance to patients and consumers. Our team helps thousands of people each year get insurance coverage, increase their health literacy and gain access to the healthcare system.Previously, I was the Special Projects Officer for the Missouri Housing Development Commission in 2011 and 2012. Prior to that I was a Partnership Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau on press, media and community outreach for the 2010 Census. For 12 years I was the Legislative Liaison at the Missouri Housing Development Commission where I performed legislative, budget, strategic planning and communications duties. I began my career as a Staff Assistant to former Congressman Alan Wheat on community development issues. I have successfully developed and managed statewide legislative and communications campaigns that leveraged millions of dollars in federal funding for the HOME Program; Housing Bonds and Housing Credits and state funded programs for affordable housing and the homeless in Missouri. These programs have provided homeless assistance, affordable rental housing and home ownership opportunities for thousands of low and moderate income Missouri families.
