I was born and reared in County Tyrone near the River Blackwater which divides the County’s Tyrone and Armagh, the river flows into Lough Neagh here near my house where The Coalisland Canal enters the river, this is the centre of the ancient province of Ulster but for me as boy and man it is the centre of the Universe for indeed this was a rich place to grow up in, and one of the greatest things about those times was the older folk engaged with the young. The area around Lough Neagh is and was full of characters, speakers of the last of the near lost old Irish language most were highly educated, not in the going to school way for these people got most of their knowledge by going on house visits in the long evenings, this was known as Ceiling, the travellers and skilled Masons tin smiths musicians and storytellers would frequent these houses telling of their travels throughout the country, everyone congregated as close to the open hearth fire as they were allowed (for there was a system in those days according to how good the song or story you had for the singing or tellingThese gentile beings were Gods of mine and while they may not have had much in the way of wealth and little in their belly’s, or maybe they had not washed of late in their well-worn ragged and patched clothes smelling of smoke from tobacco or burning sticks and turf in their own fires. So now here I am standing on their shoulders telling their history and stories to the visitors coming to see and experience my land here in Northern IrelandI James Walshe am an experienced Tour Guide, Historian, Storyteller and Entrepreneur with a wide range of skills and knowledge of Irish History, Ancient sites here in the north of Ireland, I do walks, talks and telling the visitor of the old ways and beliefs as well as visiting the incredible sites and breath-taking scenery on our tours around this beautiful land and of course the best part of my tours is we meet the people.At this time I have a 16 seater mini coach (called Kitty after my late Mother) which is kept busy, If needed I can organise bigger Coaches for larger Groups.I can step on to a previously organised Coach ToursStorytelling can be arranged.Old Saying:- Slow is the time to pass when memories are good.
