James Warren is a Washington, DC - based international tax and business lawyer. His practice currently centers on helping clients with tax controversies, establishing and maintaining small business and charitable organization as well as international banking and other commercial transactions. He is involved in numerous philanthropic and humanitarian ventures. He is currently a tax partner with Potomac Law Group, a DC-based virtual law firm. A top graduate of Cambridge University in England and Harvard Law School, he was Tax Counsel at a major Wall Street law firm from 1999 until 2011 and has been practicing law since 1990. His clients have included several of the largest investment banks and brokerages in New York as well as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation. Mr. Warren is also an English Solicitor and a former banker. He has worked in London, Dusseldorf, Germany, New York and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He travels frequently to the Middle East and Europe and is conversant in Arabic and French. Mr. Warren has been involved in a wide range of pro bono and other humanitarian projects. He served briefly on the prosecution team at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania, and as a neutral trial observer for Lawyers Without Borders in a political trial in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is currently assisting a number of charities that are engaged in humanitarian relief and democracy projects in Syria, Jordan and Palestine.
