CurrentThe Director of Information Technology at the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) is responsible for all the IT operations for the single State agency. Our agency seeks to make college affordable, accessible, and inclusive to anybody interested in pursuing a post-secondary education whether that is in a professional trade school, Community College, Private/Public University, or Graduate program here in Colorado.My role has been to support the varied teams working at all levels to accomplish these goals by ensuring we have a secure and stable infrastructure, the hardware/software necessary to complete the work, and to build/maintain the relationships with other State agencies and representatives of the Institutions of Higher Education.Here are a few examples of the day-to-day responsibilities:• Oversee all IT operations for an entire State agency by implementing enterprise-level solutions to maintain and enhance all network infrastructure, server environment, and cybersecurity initiatives • Be the CDHE liaison between the Institutions of Higher Education and the state Office of Information Technology• Make proactive recommendations to senior leadership on all aspects of the agency’s IT infrastructure• Prepared to secure and implement new technology, hardware/software, internal policies, and practices• Develop comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to secure computer files against unauthorized modification, destruction, and disclosure• Provide end-user/desktop support, conduct staff data security training, order and configure new hardware/software, and ensure that all staff are able to effectively function in a hybrid capacity
