Rubicon Ranch is a safe space for people and animals to find sanctuary, peace, and connection together.Borne out of a lifelong passion for animals and their protection, Rubicon Ranch Sanctuary was officially founded in 2023, although it has existed in spirit for nearly thirty years. As our number of residents has grown, so too has our awareness of the need for greater education, legal and regulatory changes, and safe spaces like this for our animal friends.Animals are abused, disregarded, and discarded all over the world, and we work to reduce those ill effects by partnering with various rescues and other like-minded people to do what we can to minimize the damage that is done by those who don’t or won’t understand that these are autonomous, aware, and loving beings deserving of our respect and care.Raising awareness and providing experiential learning is how we intend on being part of the solution and reducing the suffering of animals. We run this property with our whole hearts to ensure that all the animal residents that live here have the care and wellbeing they deserve. Our residents roam over 60 acres of land and live as wild and free as we can let them. The loving care we provide is species-appropriate and we ensure that our animal residents are happy, healthy, and as comfortable as possible.

The board advises the Minister of Advanced Education about the needs of the labour market for trades and skilled workers, while also promoting careers in the designated trades and occupations to Albertans. The Board is also responsible for setting standards and requirements for training and certification in trades and occupations programs.

Alberta Workforce Essential Skills Society (AWES) provides workplace training that supports all aspects of a workers’ career path. This includes training trainers, assessing skills, uncovering gaps, developing programming and evaluating the results of our essential skills training.Our goal is simple: for workers to have the essential skills they need to fully participate in the workplace, in their communities, and in their personal lives.

As Director of the Boilermaker Apprenticeship & Education Trusts I guided our team of excellent trainers and support staff in course development and implementation. Our mandate was to support Local 146 members in pre and post Apprenticeship training to ensure we were competitive in our industry. Unions true strength is their ability to provide the best and most competent people to our signatory contractors.
