With over 20 years of significant experience at Chairman/Director level, I am a seasoned leader in the investment and engineering industries (in both private and not for profit organizations). My preeminent assets are Chairing boards, corporate governance, executive oversight and investment management.At Board level, I focus on delivering future value rather than dwelling on past performance. I will drive shareholder value, through a clearly defined purpose, vision and strategy.I am well connected in the Business Angel and investment community in Scotland and throughout the UK.My career as a chemical engineer began in the mining/engineering industries at Anglo American followed by a number of years at Caltex Oil in Cape Town, South Africa and New York. After returning to the UK, I continued in a technically focussed career until early 2000, when I became involved with investment management which led to being appointed to a number of Board positions.I have been a member of Tricapital investment syndicate from its inception in 2004 and served as Executive Chair from 2017 to 2021 before becoming Hon President. During my tenure I was responsible for the executive oversight of 25+ invested companies.I was also a director of Turnbull & Scott (Engineers) Ltd from 2008 to 2019 where amongst other responsibilities I created and oversaw the risk register. Governance responsibilities included audit committee and remuneration committee.I was Chairman of the Berwick Preservation Trust from 2004 to 2020 where I oversaw the funding, development and delivery of infrastructure projects to the town.
