I have worked in the field of mental health and psychology for over twenty years. I am a medico-legal expert witness, Clinical Lead at AnonyMind and Clinical Psychologist with Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.Expert Witness Work I have been accepting Medico-Legal instructions for over ten years across varied fields. Assessments, incorporate comprehensive psychometric testing and clinical interviewing. These may include:• Assessment of psychological harm, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. Other manifestations of distress following personal injury/clinical negligence include Adjustment Disorders, Affective Disorders (e.g. anxiety and depression), Phobias and somatic complaints, including functional neurological disorders and somatic symptom disorders.• Parenting assessments in criminal and civil proceedings, in which the risk posed to children, by their carers, is assessed. • In-depth, pre-sentencing assessments for criminal cases, when a better understanding of a defendant’s psychological functioning is required by a judge in order to determine an appropriate sentence. • Assessment of a defendant’s capacity to stand trial (fitness to plead) in criminal cases. • Assessment of aspects of a defendant’s psychological functioning that are pertinent to their case, for example, their memory and intellectual functioning or their susceptibility. • I have been instructed by both Claimant and Defendant representatives and have contributed to numerous jointly instructed expert witness reports. I have attended Court on several occasions to provide evidence as an expert witness and have attended many case conferences.
