Industry Relations Coordinator

The Industry Relations Coordinator (IRC) develops and fosters relationships with internal and external clients with the intent to promote the services of The Learning Factory (LF) and to recruit project sponsors. The IRC supports the Director of the LF, LF clients, donors and alumni, College of Engineering senior students (200+ student teams per academic year), capstone project professors (from 13 different departments primarily in the College of Engineering), capstone project sponsors (150+ internal and external to PSU), LF shop supervisors, graduate assistants, and teaching assistants.The IRC represents the LF through interactions with these stakeholders. This includes regular communication with project sponsors regarding project submissions, sponsorship donations, action items throughout the semester, upcoming events and deadlines, processing of intellectual property and confidentiality agreements and sponsorship payments, and University policies and procedures (both departmental and financial).The IRC is the LF’s stewardship liaison with Alumni Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the College of Engineering’s Development Office, and University Development. They receive and ensure proper dissemination, spending, and stewardship of gifts and endowments. The IRC also works collaboratively with partners to maximize stewardship (e.g., DEI activities, Build Nights, use of the maker space, etc.). The IRC oversees the transfer, spending, and management of received funds to include providing information for use-of-funds reports. On behalf of the University, the IRC registers PSU as a client in company systems to ensure efficient payment of sponsorships. The IRC will assist in writing proposals and other requests for financial support from sponsors. These range from annual requests to charitable organizations and corporate foundations to solicitations for multi-project funding from large corporations.
