My role as a Category Buyer within the P3 team at Leonardo includes managing the requirements for two main commodities over the Edinburgh site, these are fixings/fastenings and labels, part of my role is also managing the Vendor managed inventory (VMI) from a procurement perspective for the site, this entails obtaining price agreements for kits to be supplied over a 12 month period, setting up of the purchase order and managing this PO through Kit B.O.M. material changes and invoice payments.Most recently due to the influx in test equipment requirements within the Edinburgh site I have also taken on the procurement lead role for CIRCM test equipment, this includes attending several weekly Load board meetings to update on material from a procurement stand point, this has introduced me to a higher level (value) of procurement, obtaining updates from procurement colleagues and suppliers whilst working towards tight delivery schedules.

industrial engineer for Selex Galileo, this involved supporting the production projects by ensuring the working practices are carried out as efficiently as possible. Implementing such practices as 5S, six sigma and lean manufacturing to achieve this. The introducing and maintaining Lean manufacturing principles within two manufacturing class 8 clean rooms. – My most recent project was to improve the way in which a production kit of 50+ parts was presented to the operators on the shop floor (time/cost/FOD saving exercise). Assist with any daily manufacturing issues, this could include, tooling, product, quality or planning issues. Assist with day to day test equipment issues and interfacing with the suppliers to ensure minimum downtime. Create Total Preventative Maintenance documentation and ensure this is kept up to date. Implement maintenance schedules for test equipment, jigs and fixtures. Creating jigs and tooling register for ease of calibration and maintenance logging. 5S – Shop floor organization with the goal to improve efficiency and safety. Assist with continuous improvement meetings and implement changes. Visual Management (kanbans, home locations etc) Tooling design and purchase. Jig design and verification – Liaise with the design for manufacture (DFM) group to ensure all tools and jigs are designed to the requirement specified and are fit for purpose once manufactured.

My role as an INAPS (Inertial Navigation and Pointing system) test engineer involved, assembling production units and progressing them through the test process, this included fault finding and Environmental Stress Screening, Extra duties included adhering to 5S standards. Build and test INAPS Inertial Navigation production units (fitted to the M777 Howitzer) using production planning from Initial build, Thermal calibration testing, Final Acceptance Test and QL2. Investigate and record faults that occur during the build and test process, filling out the production log and raising defects within the MRP system (SAP) throughout the process to create a clear picture. Book my time accordingly to each operation on the router within SAP. Attend 5S meetings and adhere to 5S working practices. Fault finding on repair INU’s against customer reports down to board level.  Interface with the engineering department for advice when failures required specialist knowledge. Attend production update meetings. Attend Material review board meetings (MRB’s) and fault review board (FRB’s) meetings
