I'm the owner of Empowered Social Media. My story starts as a manager in businesses for more then ten years. I became a shift manager at 18 and worked my way up to being a corporate trainer and business consultant. Everything was looking up, until one day, I was fired. I was told that I lacked leadership qualities and should pursue marketing. I took that message to heart and went to college.I started at Greenfield Community College, first looking to get a management certificate, so I could level up my skills. That is where my passion for connecting with others and communicating opened up further. I had always been interested in marketing, so I decided to take a marketing class my second semester, and became hooked. I received my management certificate and transferred to Isenberg for marketing.Five and a half years ago I became the Social Media Manager at 50/50 Fitness/Nutrition. I was able to take my passion for marketing and apply the concepts I learned in college synchronously. I went to an event called PodCamp Western Mass, where I hoped to learn more about social media. When I showed up, my friend begged me to present on social media, because nobody there had presented on social media yet. Through a ton of nerves, I presented, and had multiple people come up to me asking for my business card, which I did not have yet, because I was not a business. Two years ago, I launched the concept of Empowered Social Media, social media coaching and management while still finishing up at UMass Isenberg.When COVID-19 started to shut down businesses. The business I had helped build on social, email and web was forced to close their doors, which sidelined me. Now that people were forced to use social and digital media more than ever to communicate messages, my client load started to increase and more inquiries than ever popped up in my inbox. I decided to go full time added two team members and expanded the service offerings to cover social media, digital media, logo design, branding, website, email marketing, and crm. Today my team and I continue to develop our offerings, refine our systems, donate time and money to businesses and causes in our community, and create value.
