As Prepress and Production Specialist, I would prep and edit customer supplied files, flag any problems with files that did not meet specs, and make the best with what we had if we could not get better files. I would also prepare final layouts for print by checking them for suitability and fixing any issues. We would upload these files to various printers, soft proof them, then give final approval for them to go to print. Then in certain instances, I’d create online versions of the magazine for the client. I’m a quick thinking problem solver, often tasked with thinking outside the box.

I interview clients referred to the Food Stamps Employment and Training Program to determine the best course of action for them. The state provides transportation assistance, job placement services, and education assistance. I determine the best course of action to help the client become self sufficient and get off of the system. I also investigate fraud and report people who fail to comply.

I began my career as a layout technician in the digital prepress composing church directories. Four months later, I transferred to the preflight area where I formatted digital files submitted by faith-based institutions to work within the Olan Mills Church Directory Division workflow. This included layout composition, photo editing, customer service calls and technical support, heavy retouching and color correction of customer submitted photos, quality control and inspection and special projects. Within a year I was promoted to the group leader position supervising eight workers. Eight months after that promotion, I was given the added responsibility of being in charge of color management. I calibrated all monitors and scanners and assisted in creating a custom CMYK profile for use on our presses. Photo retouching and color correction was my responsibility within the department.Four months later, I was promoted to the position of in-house designer for the marketing department. I assumed the responsibilities for coordination with printers, file formatting, general communications and transmissions of products, all FTP responsibility. In January 2008, I was promoted to Senior Graphic Designer. I was supervisor over junior designer. I was responsible for managing case loads, time lines, and traffic flows. I was responsible for communicating all project status to the creative director. I was responsible for Church Division and all junior designer training. I created graphics for web marketing and collaborated on all Flash Design, Web Graphics, Email Graphics and Campaigns and broadcast email graphics.

This was my job that I worked as I went to college. I did everything but run the customer service desk: salesfloor, jewelry counter, electronics counter, stockroom, cashier, switchboard & fitting room.I gained a lot of sales and customer service experience from this job.
