As the Mayor of the Town of Blackfalds since 2021, I lead the council and the community in achieving our vision of being a vibrant, prosperous, and inclusive place to live, work, and play. I have a strong background in community and economic development, having served on my town's committee for seven years and owned and operated a franchise restaurant for another seven years, having trained for more than a year for that opportunity. I also have a passion for innovation and technology, as evidenced by my certification as a remotely piloted aircraft (drone) pilot and my education in electronics engineering and system support.In addition to my role as Mayor, I have run my own company, HomeZone Property and Aerial Inspections, where I leveraged my skills and credentials as a nationally certified home inspector and an advanced drone pilot. I have been in the home inspection industry since 2019, providing quality and professional services to clients in the residential sector. I also have over two decades of experience as a first aid instructor and trainer, having taught and certified thousands of students in various settings and situations. Furthermore, I am proud of my military service, both full-time and reserve, from 1990 to 2010, during which I received several honors and awards, including the CD, SSM, and Queens Platinum Jubilee.Most recently took training an completed the first of 2 exams towards the Natural Resource Canada Energy Advisor Certification.I have a broad range of interests and experiences, all of which make me a strategic thinker, a multi-tasker, and a strong communicator. I enjoy using my knowledge and apptitudes to be a social thinker, an advocate and a champion of ideas - particularely with regards to my communities, whether those communities arelocal or extended.In my personal life I am in a very happy relationship, I love spending time with my pets, and my primary recreation is hiking and backpacking. I have 3 amazing adult children; one is a physician, another is a Medical Laboratory Technologist, and another soon to be completed a degree in Neurology. Essentially I have raised my very own future healthcare support system.
