My decision to go back to college unexpectedly led me down a path which I had never before envisioned myself enjoying and ultimately redefined my own perceived abilities and future growth. While having to re-take several science courses, a faculty member recommended me to the college’s tutor center. Before I knew it, I began working with students needing help in biology, human biology, anatomy & physiology I and II, microbiology, genetics, E.M.T. / paramedic training and critical and applied thinking for nursing. During this time I was able to coordinate the ability for my access to the science labs for hands on tutoring, which had never been allowed before by the science faculty. I became a well-liked member of the center which led me to a booked schedule, usually 2 weeks in advance, as my students returned frequently. Although they wanted me to stay, I realized that the cubicle life was not for me. I have taken the time since to invest in myself, my education, my family, my health and my return to a career in which I will again jump out of bed for daily.I have since been in contact with several amazing people that I had worked with and found out that the company now uses my phone conversations as training tools for their new hire classes as examples of how to handle various situations.
