People are the heart of Human Resources. Helping others is the rewarding part of this field. Interacting with people happens during recruiting, on-boarding, benefits management, employee relations and even regulatory compliance. My 9 years teaching 2nd graders solidified the importance of developing meaningful connections with others, and this has benefited me in my various HR roles.I thrive on organization and things being in their rightful place. Just ask my kids.Being detail-oriented is a big part of Human Resources because you are working with essential aspects of people's lives: career, compensation, benefits and more! My attention to detail is a critical skill in all these areas. Using HRIS and other technical systems definitely helps for tracking and reporting, but it still takes the knowledge of the policy, benefit plan, etc. to make sure things are working as they should. My manager said this in my most recent performance review: Her attention to detail, work ethic and willingness to learn are all skills that will taker her far. I strive to work for a company where my passion and dedication for people can make a difference.
