Provide technical consulting in the areas of NGS assay development, CRISPR assay development, molecular biology, and early stage start-up operations including laboratory operations and buildouts. I have extensive experience in developing assays, taking them from the bench through to developed and automated workflows. I love working with early stage startups and figuring out how to create the physical operations of companies from the ground up and can advise on things like inventory management, vendor contracts (how to get the most value), physical lab layout, lab build-outs, purchasing processes, LIMS systems, etc.

Assembled and managed the Genome Analytics team including hiring and onboarding of a highly functional team ranging from Research Assistant to Senior Scientist. The team focuses on developing and running novel genomic assays specific for CRISPR genome engineering including the assessment of on-target efficiency, off-target site nomination and confirmation, and structural rearrangements.Additionally, managed the relocation and buildout of the Louisville headquarters laboratory. Ensured timely delivery of the buildouts within tight timelines and budget constraints during a time of uncertainty with supply chains during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Managed the startup of the US-based office and laboratories including purchasing of fixtures, equipment, and supplies, setting safety standards including Covid-19 protocols. Lead the early stages of genotyping assay development to provide rapid feedback to the R&D teams for efficiency of CRISPR gene editing.

Managed the build-out and daily running of the R&D lab at Dropworks, working towards the development of a commercial digital droplet PCR system. Much of this time was spent working as the team lead for the design, build, testing and integration of a novel thermalcycler for the Continuum ddPCR system.

Managed the daily operations for the BioFrontiers Next-Gen Sequencing Facility including advertising, setting up pricing structures, inventory and ordering, as well as running the library prep and Illumina sequencing instruments. At this position I worked with various faculty as well as local biotechnology companies to plan and implement various sequencing projects including many custom applications.
