As the youngest employee at Crest, and the only member of staff to join prior to obtaining their undergraduate degree, I developed a range of skills across multiple think-tank and consultancy projects. Over the course of my six-month internship (comprising half of my gap year between sixth form and university), I worked on the following:- A consultancy project commissioned by HMICFRS to create an evidence base to inform an upcoming inspection on misconduct and its handling in England’s fire and rescue services. I was particularly involved in the dissemination of 44 surveys to each of England’s FRSs and 30 depth interviews with former firefighters. The data was then analysed, with my focus being on the qualitative outputs, and written up, with myself as a co-author, into a long-form Technical Report which was recently published by HMICFRS.- A consultancy project commissioned by the West Sussex Violence Reduction Partnership involving the formulation of a vulnerability profile, a regional survey to uncover young people’s views on serious violence in their local area, ‘journey maps’ of young people involved in serious violence created through interviews with such young people, and the creation of a strategic needs assessment for the VRP.- A think-tank/research project commissioned by the Dawes Trust to fill in the research gaps for online fraud and make recommendations for how this type of crime could best be tackled in the future, this involved engagement with victims and experts in the field, the publication of reports, literature reviews, and the evaluation of best practice and legislation.My work did extend beyond these three projects into the following areas:- Survey coding and analysis- Comms coordination- Public speaking- Leads & tenders support

- Assumed a public facing role, developing interpersonal skills in a commercial environment- Aided in the coordination of donations and branch resources- Assisted management in an administrative capacity - Collaborated with fellow volunteers to maximise efficiency and effectiveness

- Worked to facilitate events in a fast-paced environment- Acted as an intermediary between managers, festival organisers, and external speakers- Developed independence via the completion of delegated tasks- Honed my customer-service and communication skills
