About Jamie Macaskill
An enthusiastic mechanical engineer working within the automotive sector. Specifically skilled in mechanical design and development of complexed systems, mechanical and electrical problem solving, technical leadership, and prototype build management. Most recently I have completed the Ricardo graduate scheme where I gained a broad knowledge in mechanical design and development, NVH, systems engineering, testing, and electrification systems. These have specifically been applied to light and heavy duty gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines, high performance electric machines, battery packs, and full vehicle. While at university some key academic projects involved vehicle aerodynamic design and testing, structural analysis, and electric vehicle powertrain development.

Delivery Driver
This was a role that was carried out part-time around the final year of university study. Working this role gave a sense of worth through providing a much needed service to the public during times of lockdowns and self isolation periods caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, due to working solo it gave a great opportunity to work on time management and organisational skills.
Industrial Placement Student

Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Before this time I had a great interest in cars but no real experience working on vehicles. I carried out this work experience at the end of my time at college. This gave me a great opportunity to understand more about the operation of vehicle systems from a practical prospective.
Design Engineer (Work Experience)
During this experience at Delphi I gain an insight in fuel rig testing, primarily diesel fuel pump durability and development. I was mostly shadowing a design engineer within the rigs team, giving me a great start in developing my design and CAD skills.
