As Project Coordinator-Low Impact Development for the Clean NS Foundations’ Atlantic Stormwater Initiative I was responsible for the planning and installation of three Stormwater Low Impact Development (LID) demonstration sites in the Atlantic Provinces. One in Sydney NS, one in Moncton NB, and one in Charlottetown PEI. The sites demonstrate options for hard surfaces including permeable asphalt, permeable concrete, permeable pavers, grass pavers, and gravel pavers. They were designed to demonstrate how infiltration methods work and include a french drain leading to a Bio-Swale and Rain Garden. These sites will show that these methods work in cold climates and are economically and environmentally beneficial.

Environmental Home Assessor/ Project developer Mar.2011- PresentClean Annapolis River Project (CARP)• Develop pilot project to educate rural home owners on water quality, storm water management, riparian zone management, sustainable use of water, and pollution prevention• Apply community based social marketing (CBSM) strategies for determining barriers and benefits of home owners testing their drinking water on a regular basis, managing storm water and riparian zones properly, using their water in a sustainable manner and preventing pollution • Deliver pilot to rural home owners in conjunction with the Environmental Home Assessment Program and as a standalone program• Interpret water quality test results (bacteria and chemical) and make suggestions for remediation when required• Advertise and promote project using a variety of media outlets (local papers, radio, newsletters, social media) as well as through presentations to community groups, letters to councillors, MLA’s, MP’s, community health boards, district health authorities, qualified contractors and qualified engineers• Write interim and final reports for a variety of funders, as well as more comprehensive year 1 and year 2 reports for CARP detailing delivery, results, success and recommendations for the future.• Conduct home assessments to inspect wells, septic systems, and oil storage tanks for rural homeowners• Keep records of visits and do follow up calls to gauge success of visit• Advertise and promote program using a variety of media outlets as well as through presentations to community groups, letters to councillors, MLA’s, MP’s, community health boards, district health authorities, qualified contractors and qualified engineers • Compile information gathered in database for NS Environment• Monthly board reports, report to NS Environment quarterlyTeam lead on a variety of water related projects.(striped bass, wood turtle, River Guardians)
