I am the lead artist and creative director of McCartney Arts Ltd art studios. We are a full service imagine, design, build and install fine art sculpture and photography studio incorporating Jamie McCartney Fine Arts, Brighton Body Casting, The Great Wall of Vulva and Great Wall Publishing under one roof.With over 30 years experience we envisage and fulfil all manner of fine art based briefs for UK and international clients. We work in numerous materials and processes from our new, purpose built, home studio in Manningtree, Essex, UK. We also set up overseas studios as necessary to service our international clients.I have a great team of expert artists, artisans and assistants who are a great bunch of skilled humans and work is never work!

My artworks demonstrate a career-long commitment to experimentation. Using the body as inspiration I work with both traditional and novel materials and processes, obsessively exploring the human condition. Not content with just making pretty pictures, there is often a sociopolitical agenda in my work, a result of my former life as an activist.I’m fascinated by the power of emotionally loaded objects and how to lend that power to my artworks. I’m interested in reprographic processes, dovetailing casting and photography into my working practice. I also like to use humour to break down barriers and encourage public engagement with tricky subjects.My recent solo exhibition, SKIN DEEP, in London featured over forty pieces focusing on beauty and society’s obsession with the physical self. This was the London debut of The Great Wall of Vagina sculpture, which next went on display at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan in 2012/13. It also saw the launch of the Physical Photography series of experimental, photographic, portrait collages. These portraits focus on personal expressions of sensuality and sexuality within the confines of societal and religious expectations and pressures.I am concentrating at the moment of figurative works in bronze, resins and animal hides as well as the photographic portraits. I also continue to work on my Objets d’Aft series in which whimsy and nonsense are the driving factors. In development as well are some large, long outcome assemblage projects that will see fruition in the next few years.I am represented in London by Hay Hill Gallery, Baker Street, in Las Vegas by Sin City Gallery and online by Saatchi. I am currently seeking further UK and overseas representation as well as a new agent in the UK and overseas.
