I am a Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) with a passion for finding opportunities to create efficiency and effectiveness in processes and for business intelligence. I am also a strong advocate in the role not-for-profit organizations play in our communities. Most recently I joined the Beverage Container Management Board as their Director, Finance & Administration. This role is broadening my horizons by allowing me to manage additional areas such as Human Resources, Payroll, IT as well as directly supporting those in Operations. This role has also introduced me to a regulatory/government environment where we deal with policy development, rate setting and reporting/enhancing environmental outcomes.For a number of years, I was the Controller for the YMCA of Northern Alberta, the second largest YMCA in Canada trending at ~$60M in revenue, This role allowed me to work closely with stakeholders to accomplish our mission in the areas of Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres, Child Care Services, Community and Housing Initiatives, and Philanthropy. After working with YMCA of Northern Alberta, I decided to become a consultant to use these skills to help other organizations reach their goals. My clients included: YMCA of Northern Alberta, YMCA Canada, YMCA of Calgary and a small handful of private, locally-owned businesses. Before entering the not-profit industry, I was working at Peterson Walker LLP, a public accounting firm, where I worked with several clients in various industries including small to medium-sized private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations.
