I was expected to help teacher and paraprofessionals with the students, plan educational activities, read to the students, help administer tests, supervise lunch and recess, and help during crisis. I got to learn the background of teaching people with disabilities at young ages and the type of teaching styles that work best.

I am responsible for opening and closing the office multiple times a week. I help residents with mail, packages, paperwork, lock outs, and work orders. I help the Director and Assistant Director of Residential Life with whatever they need help doing. I have the responsibility to file important personal documents of residents.

I was expected to be responsible for and maintain health and safety for the entire cabin which consisted of: 7 individuals with disabilities, 7 missionaries who were paired with the camper, one extreme team staff member, and one co - cabin staff leader. I was responsible for their personal hygiene, dietary concerns, mental concerns, medical concerns, and safety concerns. This camp allowed people with disabilities the chance to do extreme things that other summer camps offered such as ropes courses, canoeing, boating, tubing, archery, dancing, water slide, trapeze into the pool, swimming, and fishing.

I was expected to attend to all the needs of the adults who were at the day center. This would consist of accompanying them to the rest room, helping cut up food, helping them eat their food, helping with crafts, help prepare food and snacks, help adults in and out of the bus when traveling, plan activities to stimulate and exercise them, and help the director with fundraisers. I got to learn how to treat people with disabilities as they become elderly.

Bit By Bit is a Therapeutic Horse facility for people with disabilities. I got to help aid the instructors in classes. I helped make sure the horses were ready for classes. This included getting them groomed, getting their tack out, making sure the right tack went on the right horse, leading the horses around to make sure they were ready for the children to be on them. I learned about different disabilities and the concerns that accompany them. I had to learn some sign language (very minimal) to help speak to and understand some children.

I managed money both as a cashier and a sales associate. I made direct sales by helping customers pick which phone and plan was best for them. I helped customers learn how to use their cellular devices and access information about their device and plan online. I took phone calls and helped customers over the phone. I opened and closed the stores. I had to take multiple tests to insure that I knew about every device.

I took tests every two weeks to insure that I knew about each item on the menu and the story behind it. I managed money by being a cashier. I got to work on my customer service skills by being patient with customers. I learned how to multitask and prioritize.
