The Common Gentleman is a Barbershop Based in Canterbury. ​Ultimately we are a pair of nerds with roots in gaming, comics and skateboarding who like to make people look and feel good. We have always been lucky to be involved with the LGBTQ+ community around canterbury and understand that sometimes it is a struggle to find a comfortable environment for a haircut, so we are a gender neutral barbershop and want you to feel at home with us.

It was when I began working at this shop that I made the transition from a unisex stylist to a barber and became the manager of the Mancave. My role as a manager led me to design the company’s website as well as formulate the majority of the advertising campaigns. Through being able to mould the Mancave into an environment that suited me as a combination of classic barbering and a unisex salon, it gained a loyal clientèle.

In my time at Look Fantastic I developed my skillset from a junior to a senior stylist, completing my apprenticeship in my first year. Whilst there l was awarded junior of the year throughout the company, which at the time was comprised of 11 salons. I chose to focus my abilities solely on cutting, as this is where I am most confident and felt I could better utilise my skills. Eventually, I found my strongest area was mens hair as I could relate better to them and their needs. I had also developed a vast knowledge of issues relating to mens hair through research. Through working within the franchise I also became the youngest member of the companies creative team, both assisting and producing work used for advertising and promotional material.
